My review: Becca ever-matte poreless priming perfector

 June 21st, 2017
Hello readers today I am reviewing the very famous face primer, Becca ever-matte poreless priming perfector. When I bought it almost 2 years ago it was not available in France yet but now you can find it in Sephora France as well. I bought that one in Sephora Canada while I was on a trip there and as you can guess I have had plenty of time to test it out. The heat is crazy in most part of the world right now including Paris so I thought it was a perfect timing to do a review on a product that target oily skin.

This is a primer free of silicone, oil, alcohol and fragrance which is great for sensitive skin and the packaging is nice and easy to use.

Before I do this review I have to tell you that my skin is combination. It is oily on the nose forehead and apple of the cheeck, dry around my mouth and my jaws, very dry around my eyes, normal elsewhere but also dehydrated everywhere. My skin is also very sensitive and reactive to many ingredients. I have some visible pores on the apple of my cheeks and on my forehead. I know that it is a lot but these are true facts of my very complicated skin...

To make sure I was getting the most out of this primer I used different techniques while using it. The first one is to spread the product on my skin with sliding movements, the second is to gently tap/press a small amount of product where needed. I get better result with the second technique.
One thing that really surprised me the first time I used this primer was how thick it is so you really have to manipulate the product with your fingers before you apply it on your skin.
The second thing that surprised me is that it does not disappear on your skin. You can still see some wjitish residue on the skin even if you use just a little bit of product; at least on my dark skin you can see it (I am not sure about lighter skin tones).

What does Becca ever-matte poreless priming perfector promises?
-to control oil for up to 12 hours
-to minimize the appearance of pores
It does control oil and minimize pores for a few hours but certainly not 12, 10, 8 or even 6 hours
-that it can be use before or after foundation
If I apply it on top of the foundation I can see the shine going away but it does make my foundation move plus it leaves some visible whitish residue on my foundation (dark skin), so I prefer to always apply it before my foundation
-to be sweat and humidity resistant
I don’t feel that the effects last that long enough to consider this sweat and humidity resistant.
I have tried many primers and most of them do nothing on my skin or they give an illusion for 30 min. This one is better than most but still I am not impressed especially considering its high price. It is not bad but it is not the most effective primer I have ever bought (see HERE). So no I will not repurchase this one.

I find it very hard to find a great primer for oily skin. Actually I even wonder if it does exist…
Do you have any favorite? Let me know...

My 2015 favorite beauty products!

 January 6th, 2015
Hello readers and welcome to my blog. Today I decided to look back at all the products I used last year and I picked only the best of the best to share those with you. I have already reviewed all those products on my blog (except for the below Charlotte Tilbury palette). So for each product I left the direct link of the full review. You can choose to read or you can choose to watch my video about it on my Youtube channel HERE.

Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette in Fallen Angel
I have several palettes from this brand and I have been using them for several years already; actually since they were launched. But my favorite this year has been the "Fallen Angel" one because it is perfect for a very natural everyday look but also for a stronger one if you use the darkest color. As all Charlotte Tilbury palette I love the pigmentation and it applies and blend very easily.

Details on this Charlotte Tilbury look are HERE

KIKO nail polishes
All nail polishes lines of the KIKO brand I have tried so far are perfect, and I have tried many. They have perfect pigmentation they have tones of color available and they are cheap. Whatelse can we ask ?

My new love: my review on L'Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper / eyebrow gel

 January 4th, 2016
Hello readers today I want to review my current favorites which are the eyebrow gels or Brow Sylist Plumpers by L’Oréal. You can find them with no color or you can find them pigmented from a light color that will fit blondes and dark colors that will fit brunettes.

I first bought the clear one several months ago. This one only allows you to brush and stick your eyebrows in place so it is made for people who already have eyebrows. But it does it job well. When I use it in the morning my eyebrows stay in place all day.

Because I loved the clear version of the Brow Sylist Plumper I then decided to buy the pigmented one. I chose the color medium/dak which works perfectly. It acts as a gel/mascara meaning that it sticks the eyebrows in place but it also intensifies them by intensifying the natural color of your eyebrow or by giving the illusion that you have more hairs in this area.
I love the fact that the thin shape of the brush is very handy. It is very easy and quick to use and you can easily and quickly get a light effect or a stronger one as you can see on below pictures. To sum up I have nothing to say about it and it is available in drugstores so the price is affordable. It is just a really good product.

To sum up I have nothing bad to say about the Brow Sylist Plumper by L’Oréal, and it is available in drugstores so the price is affordable. It is just a really good product. Go buy it now !!!

My favorite nail polishes for fall/winter 2015 !

 December 8th, 2015
lire en français ici
Hello readers, today I want to share with you my favorite nail polishes for fall and winter. All those colors are perfect fits for the season and they are all from excellent brands.

THE NUDES
I only wear nudes during the cold days and with those 2 brands I found the perfect ones.  The Dior(grège/n°413) one is a neutral beige and the most which works very beautifully on dark skin . The Mavala(pashmina/n°109) one is also a beige color but this time it is mixed with some pink and a tiny bit of brown. This color is perfect to bring a little bit of color to your nails and work for every skin tone.

The BROWN UNDERTONE COLORS
Pink (Revlon/tea rose n°106) and red (UNE C07) are nail polishes colors that we wear all year round but those two colors in particular work very well in fall and winter because of the very strong presence of the color brown. This mix gives to those two nail polishes a very unique color.

PURPLE AND PLUM
Last but not least the colors purple and plum are always trendy during the fall/winter season. Here the KIKO (n°21) one is a perfect deep purple while the DIOR(hypnotic n°918) one is beautiful dark plum color; but to get the full intensity for this last one you need to apply 2 coats.

Please do not ask me which one of those nail polishe is my favorite as I am truly in love with all of them...

Until next time and do not forget to participate to my international giveaway to get a chance to win some of my very favorite beauty products. I remind you that the end date is JANUARY 2nd. Good luck ! (link is HERE)

3 good reasons to apply your foundation with fingers instead of brushes/sponges ...

 November 25th, 2015
Hello readers, since I created this blog I have done many makeup looks. And you may have noticed or not that in my instructions no matter what type of foundation I use, I always use my fingers to apply it. Today I am just going to explain you why I do so and why you may consider this option yourself.

1/ The first reason is the fact that I want to avoid having bacteria on my face because it easily gives me breakout (learn more about it HERE). How do I avoid that issue buy using my  hands instead of brushes or sponges you might ask? Well, the answer is simple I clean my hands before each application of my foundation so my hands are always clean when they touch my face. Can you tell the same about your makeup brushes or sponges ? How many times a week, a month, a year do you wash them? Foundation is the makeup product that touches the largest area of our face so we have to be very careful about which one we use and how se use it, especially when we have sensitive skin. What is the point on spending so much money on a product if it makes our skin look worst overtime ?

2/An other reason I don't like to use foundation tools is the fact that foundations are also very expensive, They are probably the most expensive makeup products on the market and when we apply it with a brush or a sponge a good amount of the product stays stuck on the bristle brushes. As a consequence we use more product than necessary and half of the product is wasted.

3/Last but not least a good reason to use our fingers instead of a brush or a sponge is the price of those brushes/sponges !!! A few days ago I realized that I had forgotten all my brushes in my hometown. Yes I still use brushes for blush or powder… So I decided to buy 2 to 3 simple brushes while awaiting to get mine back. Well, let me tell you that it was a struggle to find good ones for a reasonable price so if I can save up on at least one brush I think that is worth it.

Now if you think that applying a foundation with fingers does not give a good finish you should take a look at the famous and talented makeup artist Lisa Eldidge who often uses fingers herself. .

In my opinion I think that fingers give a more natural and beautiful look. But if you are still not convinced, well at least try to invest in several set of makeup brushes so you can rotate them while making sure to clean them often.

Now let me know how do you prefer to apply your foundation ? Fingers? Brushes?

My review on long lasting foundations 5/5: Clinique stay-matte oil-free foundation

 October 19th, 2015
Hello readers today I am finally doing a review on the Clinique stay-matte  oil-free foundation that I started to use last year when I was in India. I also used it this summer on and off. The reason it took me so much time to do this review is because I had mixed feelings about this product so I had to really test it out in order to build my final opinion.
WHAT THE BRAND STATES
"Tested for streaking and fading at 88°F with a constant 80% humidity, all to prove Stay-Matte stays fresh. At the same time, this patent-pending formula absorbs shine, controls oil, resists sweat. And you stay matte all day."

THE PACKAGING
The packaging of this product is very simple as it is a clear plastic tube with no pump. Although it is simple it does work well so I have nothing bad to say about it especially as Clinique foundations are often less expensive than other brands in the same category.

THE BAD
This foundation is my first Clinique foundation so I was very surprised of its thickness. I have then learned that it is usual for this brand. The thickness makes the application of the foundation complicated so you have to work on your face in section. This foundation also dries out very quick so you have to work fast. It has a light to light/medium coverage. Although you can get a medium to full coverage with it, if you do so you will get a cakey result because of its thickness that is visible to the naked eye.
THE GOOD
First thing first, my very sensitive skin never broke out because of it. This foundation has a packaging that is easy to carry around; it has a long lasting power and it does not transfer at all. You may shine during the day but what you will see is oil not the foundation melting off. So you may have to blot during the day but the foundation will not move and it will look the same at the end of the day, even on hot days during the summertime. Regarding its resistance to humidity; I also have to agree on that point, It is pretty good. I also love the fact that it has many shades, although I did not find the perfect match it still look good and I can work with it. When you finally understand how to make it work for your skin the finish is very pretty in real life, on pictures and videos.

SHOULD YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT ?
If you like foundations that are easy to work with, do not buy this foundation because you will be disappointed. If you have dry skin do not waste your money you don’t need it for your skin type. If you have oily skin it is worth  giving it a try because it is very rare to find a good long lasting foundation, but if your skin is combination keep that foundation for the summer days only. If you have sensitive skin it is also worth giving it a try because this foundation has no alcohol denat and no perfume.

Details on the below look done with the Clinique foundation HERE
WIll I REPURCHASE ?
It took me a while to get how this foundation works and my main issue with it was the thickness and the fact that I could not get a better coverage without getting a cakey look. Recently I bought a liquid foundation from Laura Mercier that is very very liquidty. I realized that it was a little bit too dark for me too late so I decided to mix it with the Clinique foundation and tata… Perfect texture, great coverage, perfect finish. It is just the perfect combination for the summer. So yes I will repurchase as long as I can mix it with a good and very liquidy foundation.
